A remarkable life

Post by AoT »

In celebration of a remarkable life, my father Walter O'Toole, 94 years 8 months won a one way ticket to paradise. He was a WWII Army Air Corp. veteran and 35 plus years retiree of his beloved Pan American Airlines. He bought the first family VW, a '57 oval from one the the mechanics at Pan Am. He was the proud father of 4 children, 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Enjoy the flight Wally!! Love you!! with Meghan Harron and Casey Marie.

He put up a good fight this week and we were amazed at his strength even under difficult circumstances. We found out why this morning looking through his paperwork. He was a very proud veteran of the Army Air Corp. His service was to prepare the Boeing B-17's and the pilots as they prepared to go on the missions overseas. His time in the AAC was cherished. He enlisted on September 24, 1940 and we think he picked today to make his exit, September 24, 2015, 75 years later!!

That's certainly not good news to come across. Though, it sounds like he left you in an ok place. It's tough when someone we love dies, but dad gave you everything you needed - then stuck around for quite a few extra years to see you through. From his a time in the Army Air Corps, through Pan Am, to you and later your daughters; I'd like to think he wasn't an ounce disappointed to see his hard work in each of you.
You've got my prayers.

My thoughts and prayers to you and yours. Sound like this place we call home was better off with 'Wally's' good doing. Stay strong during this trying time.

We just chatted about our fathers and Pan Am. The day yours passed, mine flew into JFK from Zurich. More coincidence! He had not been in NYC for 10 years. We had a good few days together.

Very sorry for your loss, hearing this news puts even more value on any time I can spend with my parents these days.
