They took a mostly stock 67 and put a aftermarket engine in with non stock parts, changed the front fenders, missing engine tin and are clueless on what is a real restoration.

German engineers are spinning in their graves that VW employees used aftermarket fan shroud, chrome valve covers and missing lower tins.
I guess the new guys feel it's not needed.
BTW, over the past 5 years i've rebuilt 3 aircooled engines for the local VW dealer because they had no one that knew how to do it and the customer wanted a "factory" rebuild. I got paid well, but i'm sure it was a small fraction of what the dealer charged.
