Trying to wire my turning signals up

according to this



i believe im looking at 'H" on there

tried tracing the wires i cant figure out these last few



which is coming off the turning signal signal harness

what doesnt work at the moment? that will be your first clue. If its coming from the turn harness, turn on the directional and see if you have any power coming out of the wires. best tool for this job is a 'power probe' if you can get one. Look around for a correctly color coded diagram too if this isnt correct.

I rewired the car, so I'm trying to get the turning signals for the first time


my assumption is
1- power
1- ground
1- blinker relay
1- high beam relay

just don't know which wire is which

I'm not bothering with the windshield wipers yet.

Did you buy a new harness ?

yes from wiringwerkz or something like that but these specific wires were not replaced. they told me that before I bought it. so I've got plenty of length on all the connections... just don't know where they go

Looks to me like black with white is the left turn, black with yellow/green it right turn. Whitish is parking/running lights. If that's not what you have in the harness, look at what color wire goes to the light sockets and find that color wire. A volt/ohm meter is a good thing to have here, even the cheap harbor freight one will work well enough for this. Also- if you can find a small 12 volt battery you can use it for testing, but the car's battery will do. I suggest a small one because it can do less damage if something goes wrong. Also jumper wires with alligator clips are invaluable when testing wiring. You can try it out before you cut/splice/terminate that wire and make it permanent.

Print out that wiring diagram in full size, even if you have to do screen captures on 6 pages (like I did) to do it. then line them up and tape them together. I put that on a poster board, and covered the whole thing in scotch tape to protect it. I now have a huge wiring diagram of my buggy (and a 1970 beetle) with all my notes on it for next time I wire it (or something else).

BTW- I think your turn signal switch is labeled T. If I'm reading correctly, H is the hazard switch.

Brown is normally ground. Your wiring diagram shows i brown going direct to ground. The other going to the ground on the speedo and the last brown going to the horn circuit, through a plastic connector.

B, what year is the Ghia? The drawing you posted shows one brown to ground.
1 to the horn relay and the brown with white stripe to the dimmer relay

Take an ohm meter to the leads and start hitting switches. When you make a connection, you'll know what it is. Look at the wires in the harness. Find the wires that go to that device, and there ya go. It's only intimidating at first, and only if you let it be. You got it this far, you'll get it the rest of the way.
