I'm back in the air cooled VW game after some years off. I never used gas with ethanol before in a bug. Should I use a stabilizer with a tankful, or is it ok to use as is (no recreational gas avail in Nassau county).

I've not had any problems with it.

Long term effects are questionable. Some folks say it's horrible others say no ill effects. Glenn had ran gas with ethanol for a few years and had a photo of his fuel line which he cut open and it appeared fine.
I'm in the habit of putting fuel stabilizer in the tank whenever the car (whichever one) is going to be sitting for a while.
You definitely don't need it every tank full. Just some ethanol safe stabilizer when the car goes down for the winter.
