Yes.

Painting the case closes the pours and will cause it to not shed heat as easily as bare. Also over time the paint tends to peal and looks like crap.

I'm in the process of rebuilding an engine and it was painted silver in the past. The machine shop hot tanked it and then soda blasted it to get most of the paint off.

how much to hot tank and blast?

The soda blasting was a favor since he had to remove all the glass media. He also said it was very difficult to see since the baking soda made an opaque cloud.

There are places on Long Island that specialize in media and soda blasting.

got my engine and heads glass beaded case bored to 94 gonna remove almost all oil galley plugs and tap to pipe threads and brush the stuff out of it rinse repeat untill it feels clean then do it 10 more times
