35 years ago tonight my dad died of prostate cancer. He had warning signs but ignored them until he could no longer. At that point it was too late. He continued to work through radiation, chemo and hormone therapy, but nothing helped. He worked until he finally collapsed at the Jamaica LIRR station and was brought home in a police car. He lingered for 6 more months getting daily if not more often injections of pain meds. Finally he passed in his sleep and his ordeal was over.
Your dad sounds like he was a hard working man. I'm sorry you were robbed of so many years with him.
I thoroughly agree, get checked/screened/tested. Get in front of it, especially if there's any family history. My wife's family has a STRONG history of breast cancer, so she had been taking preventatives measures and drugs and getting screened frequently. That was how they caught her cancer, it was a year ago next Saturday that they found it. It was caught early enough that radiation wasn't necessary, awesome managers at CVS arranged her work schedule so she was able to keep working during chemo. Surgery was back in May and it went well, her prognosis is good.
Regardless the type or cancer, the key is being ahead of it. Whatever parts you may have, get them checked. It pays.
Sorry to hear that Glenn But yes get the word out to get tested. 1 out of 4 men WILL get Prostate Cancer and it is Very Easy to Control or KIll if you catch it early. I found out 7 years ago that I might possibly have it through a simple blood test. So my doctor tried a few things that didnt help lower my PSA and said to get a biopsy which confirmed it was Cancer. but we found it in its early stage and kept in in check with meds for like 5 years but the meds were messing with me so i went and hopefully KILLED it with CYBERKNIFE Radiation. it might take a year or 2 for my PSA to melow but my doctor is pretty confident that ill be cancer free .
GET A SIMPLE BLOOD TEST I WAS 48 WHEN I FOUND OUT
