Site Redesign Has Begun

How can we improve the site?

FWIW I've been using photobucket.

Thanks Mike, you make it look easy- but if it were, anybody could do it.

The application is still in the works.
It will be a hidden page, that opens after a MOM, or "Premium" subscriber pays dues through our paypal.
You can view the form for now, here: application
You can play with it, but be cognizant that hitting SUBMIT, will send me a PM. Knock knock jokes are very appreciated...
I have to fine tune the form still, and I don't like the layout one bit, but I wanted to test the data fields. The fields work, but I haven't connected them to their database table yet. Eventually, this will help me track upgrade users but the REAL goal of it, is to entirely automate the registration process for the show... This form is a test ground for me, and simply changing a few things (like changing the "premium member" to "show admission" will force a post to a PM or a forum. So we can see who registered, even have all their information in one place (read as "email lists")
Got busy this week with work, so upgrades here have slowed down.
Finishing the membership/application page is the current priority.

Show lost keeps growing. Got the dates from CJVWS for all their 2014 events, yesterday. The memorial ride has no date yet.
This new form is MUCH easier to edit/update from any computer on the fly. No more having to redo half the page if I wanted to add a show mid season. So, tell me what you got, even if we don't have a date yet!

Started tinkering with user permissions. Newly Registered Users can again see all forums. Been tinkering with an application form alot lately, and its a PITA. As such, the membership page remains only partially complete.
I just spent 4 hours working on a file that just doesn't want to write to the database the way I think it should, or should I say... The way I WANT it to... More fighting with it, later.

Mike, things are coming along well with your new site, if things don't get a little easier with the direction I'm going, I may be picking yer brain a bit to bring some of your new functionality to Jersey. Keep up the good work.

Jeff,

DVG will be happy to "whore" Mike out to help in anyway.

Just when you're done, make sure you use plenty of soap and hot water.

They'd be better off banning the phrase "Call and ask Tony down at GT". I was there a few weeks ago and saw that. The previous time I was there was several years ago and saw the same thing posted.

Those who can... do. Those who can't pay someone else to do it.

Nothing wrong with that at first. But classic VWs are hobby cars and part of the hobby is learning to work on them. That's where a real club comes in. A real club shares the knowledge and rolls it's sleeves up to teach and help.

It's also nice to know that GT is there to help when you get in over your head.... we've all been there. Tony's been working on VWs since before most of you were born. And Wayne is one hell of a mechanic.

BTW... I a few months ago I built an engine that went into a car with a TOC stick on it ;)

Got a few special features in the works for our new Premium Members, and Site Sponsors.
As a sign of thanks, I'll be opening up the site's new Photo Gallery System, as well as our recently fixed Calendars.
While there will be several different galleries, specifically for shows Premium and Sponsor level members will soon have access to create and modify personal galleries.
Will be picking up the pace, and working in some more small upgrades soon. Keep your eyes peeled!
