Type 1 is a upright engine used in Beetle, Ghias and Things. Type 3 are the same as a Type 1 but have a fan in the rear.. they're Pancake. A Type 4 is a pancake but a totally different case... it's a "big block".

There's no such thing as a Type 2 engine. Early Buses has Type 1 and then in 72??? they got Type 4.
