Das Volks By the Duck June 4-6th

Never called office, but did look up rules and it said that you have to show up the day reservation starts or "maybe" you lose your reservation. Site says no check ins before 2pm. When Brad and I went there in Feb. they have signs that say if you arrive before 2pm you have to wait in the overflow lot.

Either way, we would be there Friday June 4th after I get off of work. If anyone else is in, I'll go ahead and book site 16. We can work from there...There is a block from site 13-19.

$82 for residents with Green Key for the minimum 4 day reservation.

UPDATE: I did indeed just book site 16!....Who else is in?

Had no idea of THESE new rules for Suffolk County Campgrounds.

Our friend Kevin (who had a Vanagon) lives in Nassau. He tried to make a reservation. He called to get help and found out the following:

He is not able to as a Nassau resident. Unless he spends $200 on non resident Green Key first.

Only family members are allowed on each site, so he is not able to share a site, and apparently there is only 1 vehicle allowed per site, so anyone with a 2nd vehicle has to park it in the overflow lot anyway.

This must be a new Covid rule, I had friends meet me a Cedar Point a couple of years ago and they still just paid not resident rates.

Have they reinstated walk ups or is everything still reservation only ?

The non resident green key might be worth it if you camp 3 or 4 times a season but not for 1 use. Maybe they will reinstate walk ups in the near future.

Rumor has it that walk ups have been reinstated. That means our Nassau friends would only have to pay non-resident rates. They may not be right next to us but the middle section behind us is never full.
